Market Information

The continental ocean area under China jurisdiction is around 3 million square kilometers. China continental offshore oil reserves are estimated at 240 million tons, about 22.9% of the total oil reserves of our country; and the offshore natural gas reserves are estimated at 14 trillion cubic meters, about 1 / 3 of the total natural gas reserves in China. According to the plan, the output of Chinese continental offshore oil and gas will reach 50 million tons of oil equivalent in 2010.
At present, the oil and gas reserves of land and shallow sea (under 300 meters) are depleting in global range. The deep water exploration will be the hotspot of the oil and gas development in the future. According to the authoritative calculation, the investment on the development of deep water oil and gas will reach 160 billion USD in the next 5 years.

A British market research institute recently released that the global investment on offshore engineering auxiliary ships will be expanded in 2009-2012. The investment peak will occur in the year of 2011. According to the calculation, the investment amount will be more than 103 billion USD.

The exploration of deep-water oil and gas in the South China Sea is a strategic substitute for our. According to the estimation, the exploration of deep-water oil and gas in the South China Sea will evolve a quite scale in the coming 5 years.
On May 11th, 2009, “The Direction of Ocean Engineering Equipment Research Project”, was released by the Ministry of Industry and Informationization, PRC. It said that taking the urgent needs of the exploration of oil and gas in South China Sea as the starting point, and to raise the share proportion in the international market, we will strive to have a complete breakthrough in the independent research on the major mobile drilling platform and the ocean engineering operating vessels and auxiliary ships till 2012.

We should evolve a number of our own-brand products, and have the setting capacity of the major floating production systems and the new type of ocean engineering equipment. To fill the blank of our country in this field, we should raise the basic common level of ocean engineering equipment technology, and evolve a series of technical standards and specifications.

The market future for China Ocean oil and gas exploitation is cheerful and thus has a large need of all kinds of related advanced technique and equipments.

Review of the Exhibition in 2009

Organized by China Association of National Shipbuilding Industry, Chinese Ocean Engineering Society and Shanghai Association of Shipbuilding Industry, “China International Exhibition on Ocean Engineering Equipment & Technology 2009” were held in Shanghai Mart, July 23-25, 2009. There were more than 120 exhibitors from USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, France, Singapore and China. A lot of new equipments and technical achievements were displayed in the exhibition by many renowned Chinese and foreign companies.

Simultaneously, the two-day’s “Summit on Development of China Shipbuilding Industry & Ocean Engineering 2009” was successfully held at Shanghai Rainbow Hotel, July 23-24th, 2009.

The Department of Equipment Manufacturing Industry, MIIT and Shanghai Economic and Informationization Commission provided great support to the exhibition and the forum. Ms. You Shumin (Director General of Department of Equipment Manufacturing Industry, MIIT), Mr. Zhang Huafang (Vice Director of Shanghai Economic and Informationization Committee) and Mr. Wang Jinlian (Secretary-General of China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry) all presented the ribbon cutting ceremony and they also dilivered professional speeches on the summit. In addition, Prof. Wu You Sheng (member of Chinese Academy For Engineering), Mr. Li Zhigang (Chief Engineer of Offshore Oil Engineering Co.,Ltd.,CNOOC), Mr. Ge Weimin (Assistant Chief Engineer of Shanghai Offshore Petroleum Branch, SINOPEC), Mr. Oliver Wack (Area Manager East and South Asia, VDMA German Engineering Federation), Mr. Mads R Bardsen (Trico Marine Group Assistant to CEO), Prof. Li Runpei (Director of State Key Institute of Ocean Engineering, SJTU) and some other specialists’ excellent lectures were widely won good response.

Over 5000 professional visitors from 21 provinces and cities were covered Chinese major shipyards, ocean equipment manufacturers, the relevant fittings manufacturers, research institutes, colleges and universities, shipbuilding industry parks and foreign trade companies. Meanwhile, several hundreds of oversea professional visitors and end-users were from 19 foreign countries, such as Germany, Korea, USA and UK and so on, and a lot of buyers and traders from HongKong, Macau and Taiwan regions also visited the exhibition.
